Looking back on 2024, it was an exciting year as we set new milestones, demonstrated our resilience, and reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to sustainability at BC Works.
Celebrating 70 years in British Columbia was not only a moment to honour our rich history but also a celebration of the incredible people who have shaped our journey. The dedication of our employees, contract partners, and host communities remains the cornerstone of our success. Every generation has played a key role in the growth and evolution of our operations, and that legacy continues to inspire and propel us forward.
This year, we navigated significant challenges, including drought conditions that impacted the Nechako Reservoir and our ability to generate power. As a result, Rio Tinto purchased power. While this caused a modulation in our production, it reinforced our resilience and problem-solving mindset. Through careful planning, collaboration, and adaptability, we remained steadfast in our commitment to safety and operational excellence.
At BC Works, sustainability is more than a goal—it’s embedded in everything we do. From investing in process improvements to developing the next generation of leaders, every step we take is about strengthening our future. The completion of the new alumina conveyor and ongoing technological upgrades reflect our drive for efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility.
Looking to 2025 and beyond, we remain deeply focused on innovation and continuous improvement. We are dedicated to producing high-quality, low-carbon aluminium while building strong partnerships and ensuring the long-term success of our operations. The future is bright, and together, we will continue to break new ground, optimize our performance, and further solidify BC Works as a global leader in responsible aluminium production.
